I got ill: 4. july 2006
(~2 months)Description: * Skin rashes appeared due to hot weather condition
> Neck area
> Diaper area
* Oilatum Bar Soap (bath soap) was given
* Bactroban Cream for rashes
* Prostaphlin A Antibiotic was given (07.09-07.15.06), 2.5 ml every 6 hrs., 7 days for rashes w/ pus at the buttocks area
* The rash (w/ pus) at the buttocks area is recurrent since 2 months of age. It was later found out to be an anal fistula, an abnormal connection between the inside of the anal canal and the skin around the anus. It usually arises as a consequence of an infection of one of the glands that are located within the anal canal. A fistula develops when the tract that extends between the inside gland and the outside opening does not heal. It requires an operation, Fistulotomy to completely cure it.
I stayed in the institution: * Anal Fistula: the Pediatric Surgeon is Dr. Antonio Catangui. He is affiliated at PGH, with clinic hours at PGH Pediatric Dept. (# 5240742) and at C & R Bldg. II (# 5215619), MWF 11-1. He also holds a clinic at San Juan De Dios Hospital (# 8319731) every Tues & Sat 2-4
* I was admitted at PGH on March 13, 2007. the doctor got my CBC (the results are quite ok). On March 14, around 9 am the nurse put a dextrose on my right arm because I cannot eat or drink milk at least 6 hours prior to my operation, which was scheduled at 3 pm. I was also given an antibiotic (Metronidazole IV). I was fetch in my room, together with my Mommy & Daddy at around 2:30 pm & I was inside the operating room (with my Mommy) at 2:45 pm. The surgery (Fistulotomy) started at 4:05 pm to 4:15 pm. I was out of the OR at 4:20 pm. Dr. Catangui is my Surgeon & Dr. Mangubat is my Anesthesiologist. I was immediately brought to the recovery room, with my parents. Afterwards, we went to our room with our relatives patiently waiting for me. I felt happy and ok. But during the evening, I had fever so the doctor advised me to drink paracetamol. I got well in the morning & at around 4 pm, I was discharged from the hospital. The doctor said that the healing period of my wound would take 1 to 4 weeks. I still need to drink an antibiotic (Metronidazole 4 cc every 8 hrs.) for 7 days (from March 16-22, 2007).
